The Meaning of Easter Today in Our Lives<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
In tens, even hundreds of thousands of homes around the world, alongside the celebration of that greatest miracle which took place 2,000 years ago, people are waiting for their own small, quiet miracle. One that does not begin with the thunder of a stone rolling away from a tomb, with lightning or with the songs of seraphim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They are waiting for the kind of miracle that happens quietly and can happen anywhere: in a cottage in the countryside, in an expensive apartment in New York, or on the housing estates so typical of Pozna\u0144, Warsaw and many other cities, where many older people live alone. It happens when someone struggling with depression, personal problems or loneliness gets up, smiles and begins once again to take joy in life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the World Health Organization, more than 1 billion people around the world live with mental disorders, and loneliness affects 1 in 6 people. In Poland, the picture may look even worse. Recent data suggest that among young people in our country, as many as 1 in 3 experience loneliness. Depression and the feeling of being needed by no one can destroy relationships and bring friendships to an end, because \u201cI don\u2019t have the strength to leave the house. I just can\u2019t be bothered. I\u2019d rather sit alone.\u201d Many of us see this among our relatives, our friends and even our more distant acquaintances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And this is where Easter enters the scene. It comes to everyone: to the healthy and the sick, to believers and non-believers, to the fulfilled, and especially to those battered by life. And it carries a simple truth: resurrection begins with rising. With that small, and yet so difficult, step out of one\u2019s own tomb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Easter is not a message only for those who believe in eternal life. It is also for those who want to believe in another day, another good smile, another embrace, another chance and another one of our small resurrections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
