Get Paid to Go Home? UK Offers Polish Citizens Funding to Return to Poland

The UK government has launched a new program offering comprehensive support, including financial aid, for Polish migrants who want to return home. However, to join this initiative, you must meet certain conditions and accept a five-year ban on re-entering the UK. So, what exactly is this program all about?

UK Funding for Poles Returning to Poland: Who Is Eligible?

For years, the UK has been grappling with the issue of illegal migration. Now, a new government initiative aims to improve the situation. This special program makes it easier for people who no longer have the legal right to stay in the UK to return to their home countries. This includes some Polish citizens living in Britain.

Under this Home Office program, the funding for Poles returning to Poland voluntarily is now possible. The British government helps applicants with all the necessary paperwork and organizational matters related to their return. As a result, our fellow citizens don’t have to worry about the costs or the formalities.

According to the official UK government website, the program is designed for migrants who meet the following criteria:

  • They are in the UK illegally or have overstayed their visa or residency permit.
  • They have filed an asylum claim in the UK.
  • They have a letter from the Home Office confirming they are victims of modern slavery.
  • They have withdrawn or plan to withdraw an application to remain in the UK.

“The program is also open to family members of individuals previously sent back to Poland under the Facilitated Return Scheme, which also includes those who have served a prison sentence in the UK or abroad,” the Polish Express portal adds.

How Much Will the UK Pay Poles to Leave?

The UK Home Office confirmed that eligible Polish citizens will receive not only assistance with travel arrangements but also up to £3,000 to help them start over in Poland.

Crucially, funding for Poles returning to Poland from the UK comes with strict conditions. Those who join the program and leave the UK cannot return for five years. This ban applies to all reasons for travel, including work or study.

Poles in the UK who wish to apply for this assistance should call the program’s office at 0300 004 0202. The helpline operates on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. British time. During the call, you need to provide your personal details, express your interest in the program, and describe your situation. After receiving your information, officials will explain the next steps in detail.
