Not Just a Stage, but a Place for Ideas to Meet

On October 24, 2026, Cavatina Hall in Bielsko-Biała will host an ideas conference where space, war, goodness, music, and literature meet. The program includes talks, a chamber concert, and an Authors’ Zone, with conductor Andrzej Kucybała among the guests.

An ideas conference in Bielsko-Biała: more than listening

Conferences like to pretend that gathering a few well-known names, adding the word “ideas” to the program, and arranging a polished stage is enough to make something important happen. Most often, nothing happens beyond the efficient production of an event. A speaker talks, the audience applauds, someone takes a photo with the logo in the background, and after a few days all that remains is a note in the calendar.

Holistic Talk 2026 avoids that trap. On October 24, 2026, the third edition of this distinctive gathering will take place at Cavatina Hall in Bielsko-Biała, built around 3 words: truth, goodness, and humanism. It will not, however, be a festival of easy answers. It will be an event for those who are not satisfied with a quick punchline, a striking quotation, or a PowerPoint slide. The organizers want to guide the audience through radically different experiences, connected by a single question: how can we live more attentively in today’s world?

First music, then questions

This year’s edition will open with film music performed by a chamber ensemble of the Cavatina Philharmonic Orchestra. Before the audience hears about space, goodness, war, books, and memory, it will first enter the event through emotion, concentration, and shared listening.

Space, goodness, and war

Later, guests representing very different worlds will appear on stage. Radosław Ambroży, a popularizer of astronomy, will speak about space and the kind of scale that can change the way we think about human affairs.

Joanna Sadzik, associated with the Wiosna Association, will bring in the subject of goodness understood not as a beautiful word, but as a practice of action. She will speak about why people want to be good and how that mechanism can be unlocked in them.

Przemysław Wójtowicz, a former soldier and sniper instructor, and the author of Sniper Goes in First and Before You Pull the Trigger, will speak about the experience of war — an experience that does not end when one returns home.

The Authors’ Zone at Holistic Talk 2026: the foyer as a second stage

But this conference is not only about who appears on stage. What happens beyond the stage, in the foyer, will be just as important. Between 3:30 p.m. and 6:15 p.m., the foyer of Cavatina Hall will become the Authors’ Zone. This is one of the most important elements of the October gathering. If the stage gives the event its rhythm, the foyer gives it breath. There, one can come closer, ask a question, disagree, give thanks, ask for an autograph, or stop an author for a brief conversation.

This will not be a conventional book fair or a mere add-on to the conference. It will be a second stage: less formal, more direct, but no less important. Here, ideas will step down from the lectern and test themselves in direct conversation.

This is where conversation truly begins

The Authors’ Zone will feature, among others, Jacek Piekara, Dariusz Jaroń, Szymon Pękala, and Przemysław Wójtowicz. In this space, Andrzej Kucybała will hold a special place. A conductor, educator, and co-author of Jan Smeterlin: The Forgotten Piano Virtuoso, Kucybała is a well-known conductor and cultural manager. He will not come to speak about the latest trend, technology, or the disputes currently heating up social media. He will come to the readers he meets in the Authors’ Zone at Holistic Talk 2026 with the story of Jan Smeterlin: a pianist born in Bielsko, an artist from Europe’s borderlands, and an interpreter of Chopin.

Smeterlin is an almost literary figure. He performed with the greatest orchestras and then, like many outstanding artists of his generation, was almost completely erased from common memory. War, emigration, changing fashions, and the passage of generations all played their part. What remained were recordings, a few anecdotes, and silence. In a city that in 2026 holds the title of Polish Capital of Culture, Kucybała’s appearance with the story of Smeterlin takes on an additional, almost symbolic dimension.

For those who want more

Holistic Talk 2026 was created for people who do not merely want to receive information, but want to experience it, think it through, and confront it with others. It is for those who, amid the daily noise, miss a place for serious conversation without academic stiffness and without online aggression. It is for those who feel that culture, science, and experience are not separate worlds, but different languages for speaking about the same thing: the human being.

If you are planning an autumn trip that will leave behind something more than a few Instagram photos, October 24 in Bielsko-Biała may be one of the better choices this year. This ideas conference offers more than talks: on stage, there will be ideas; in the foyer, books and their authors.

Tickets are available on the Cavatina Hall website. It is worth booking early, especially tickets from the Early Birds pool.
