The Cosmos and the Trenches: Seeking Perspective at Holistic Talk 2026

The cosmos offers distance, conversation grants perspective, and music evokes emotion long before words find their form. This is the underlying philosophy of Holistic Talk 2026, an upcoming festival of ideas in Bielsko-Biała, Poland. Far from a conventional lecture series where attendees passively scribble notes, this gathering functions as a collaborative journey. By bringing an astronomer, a combat veteran, a journalist, and a conductor into the same room, the event invites the audience on a dual expedition—one stretching into the farthest reaches of the universe, and the other probing the depths of human nature.

Looking Up to Hear Ourselves

Why does outer space serve as such a compelling backdrop for discussing human values? The reason is not that distant stars can resolve our bitter political disputes or cure our existential anxieties. Rather, the cosmos reminds us of a fundamental, humbling truth: we are not the center of anything.

Understanding that our planet is merely one among billions of celestial bodies, and that each individual life represents just one of billions of human stories, makes it difficult to dogmatise our own opinions. As a result, it becomes easier to truly listen to another person. In an era where online arguments result in deeply entrenched tribalism and algorithms systematically reward extremism, such a lesson in humility feels more urgent than ever.

When Radosław Ambroży gazes at the night sky, he is not searching for easy answers to the meaning of life. As an astronomer, science communicator, and member of the Polish Society of Amateur Astronomers, Ambroży is travelling to Bielsko-Biała. He will advocate for the vital importance of perspective. He seeks not an escape from reality, but a vantage point that allows us to see the world with greater clarity. This concept defines the current iteration of the conference.

We will meet in a remarkable venue—Cavatina Hall in Bielsko-Biała—where we will look at the sky together, but also… deep within ourselves,

– Ambroży notes on his website, mojaastronomia.pl.

His upcoming presentation, titled In Space, Time Stands Still, promises to bypass standard textbook summaries of black holes and exoplanets. Instead, the talk serves as an explicit invitation to pause, look upward, and confront life’s essential questions.

If you feel that it is worth stopping occasionally to look up and ask yourself the most important questions, I hope to see you there,

– Ambroży says.

Architecture, Music, and the Philosophy of Holistic Talk 2026

Organised by the portal and quarterly publication Holistic News, the conference grounds its inspiring presentations in the classical philosophical pillars of Truth, The Good, and Humanism. Furthermore, the event takes place on Saturday, October 24, 2026, inside Cavatina Hall—a choice of venue that is entirely deliberate.

As one of the most technologically advanced concert halls in Poland, Cavatina Hall boasts acoustics engineered to deliver sound to listeners without a hint of distortion. The physical space itself fosters quiet focus. Thus, it is an ideal stage for an event designed to blend the spoken word with live music, bridging intellect and emotion.

Our event is much more than a traditional conference. Our event places authentic relationships and direct human encounters at the absolute center. Rather than leaving with a prefabricated set of beliefs, we want our guests to step away with a question they feel compelled to ask someone over a cup of coffee.

– explains Anna Godek-Biniasz, the program director and organizer of the event.

To set this tone, the gathering opens with a brief concert of cinematic scores performed by a string quartet from the Cavatina Philharmonic Orchestra. For decades, film music has served as a narrative tool for journeys—cosmic, psychological, and existential. Within seconds, a sweeping arrangement can transport an audience into states of awe, dread, hope, or solitude. In doing so, it establishes an emotional baseline before the speakers even step up to the microphone.

From the Infinite to the Internal War

Following the musical prelude, Radosław Ambroży will take the stage. He will redirect public attention toward the grand scale of time, space, and humanity’s modest place in the universe.

Immediately following this cosmic overview, Przemysław Wójtowicz will introduce a radically different, yet equally vital perspective. A former military sniper who was wounded during combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, Wójtowicz is the author of The Sniper Enters First and Before You Pull the Trigger. His presentation, The War Inside a Person Never Ends, explores the invisible wounds of combat. He speaks of the trauma that lingers in a soldier’s mind, in automatic physical reflexes, through sleepless nights, and in the heavy silence that often engulfs those who return from the realities of war.

“Not a single psychologist came to see me. We were lying in recovery wards, wounded, needing someone to talk to. No chaplain came either. That is exactly what I would expect from the Polish military. Providing a psychologist and a chaplain is not an act of goodwill—it is a duty. A soldier has the right to have someone show up for them.

– Wójtowicz recalled in an interview with Holistic News, reflecting on his time in the hospital.

These two outlooks—Ambroży’s view from the stars and Wójtowicz’s view from the trenches—appear light-years apart. Yet, they are bound by the exact same question: how does one remain human when pushed to the absolute limit? For the astronomer, that limit is the infinity of the cosmos juxtaposed with the triviality of daily friction. For the soldier, it is personal mortality and the boundaries of psychological endurance.

The forum deliberately creates an environment where these contrasting viewpoints can meet and illuminate one another.

A third presentation, featuring an additional speaker, will be announced shortly to complete the main program.

The Authors’ Foyer: A Democratic Space for Dialogue

Between 3:30 PM and 6:15 PM, the venue will transition into a bustling communal hub within the authors’ foyer. This space is designed to be much more than a standard lobby lined with book stalls and promotional merchandise. In fact, it functions as an informal second stage—a more accessible, human environment. Here, attendees can approach the speakers directly to challenge an idea, share an experience, or simply express gratitude.

Our primary goal is to create an opportunity for every guest to personally converse with the speakers, Ideas are not born exclusively on a main stage; they emerge through the exchange of mutual experiences, casual conversations, and shared moments.

– says Anna Godek-Biniasz.

The foyer will host a diverse group of intellectuals and creators. Alongside the astronomer Radosław Ambroży, attendees can meet Dariusz Jaroń, a prominent journalist and reporter known for his books on Polish Himalayan mountaineers and ski jumpers. Przemysław Wójtowicz will also be present to discuss his literary work on combat psychology. Joining them are Andrzej Kucybała—a conductor, educator, and co-author of a definitive monograph on the pianist Jan Smeterlin—and Szymon Pękala, the creator of the popular cultural commentary platform Wojna Idei (The War of Ideas).

The lineup will continue to expand as the event approaches.

Why Gather in Person?

In an era saturated with podcasts, digital newsletters, and high-definition livestreams, one might reasonably question the utility of travelling to Bielsko-Biała for an in-person conference. The answer lies in the limitations of digital infrastructure: certain human experiences cannot be transmitted through a fibre-optic cable.

The weight of a face-to-face conversation, the collective silence that fills a room after a profound question is posed, and the subtle nod of understanding from a stranger cannot be replicated by a streaming service.

While modern culture suffers no shortage of information, it faces a critical deficit of physical spaces where ideas can be collectively examined, challenged, and absorbed. This is the sensory and intellectual architecture that awaits participants at Holistic Talk 2026. It offers a shared experience with music at the start, the cosmos in the background, and the human being at the absolute centre.
